Modern waterfront architecture in Stockholm

Cities at walking pace

Latitude Notebook

Waterfront walks, quiet streets and places worth slowing down for.

From the notebook

Three walks, no hurry

Stockholm / Waterfront

A morning along the water

Start before the streets fill up. Follow the quays towards the old town, keeping the water on your left. The best photographs are often between the landmarks: a reflection, an empty bench, a boat turning slowly under a bridge.

Leave room for a second coffee and a detour through the narrow streets. A walking route is a suggestion, not a deadline.

Amsterdam / City walk

Beyond the busiest canal

Pick one canal and follow it until the crowds thin out. Small bridges change the view every few minutes. Look up at the roofs, then back down at the houseboats and bicycles.

The quieter side streets make a good afternoon route. Keep the itinerary short, and stop somewhere you can watch the street without rushing.

Practical notes / Photography

Pack less, notice more

A light jacket, comfortable shoes and one camera are enough for most city weekends. Save a few landmarks on your map, but leave the hours between them open.

Cloudy weather is not a reason to stay indoors. Soft light brings out the colours of old stone and the shapes reflected in the water.

About the notebook

Small observations from northern Europe.

This is a collection of walks and photographs, with an emphasis on public spaces, waterfronts and unplanned afternoons. No rankings or packed schedules, just a few things to notice on the way.
